Landmarks at Risk

    Circle S Guest Ranch

Mary Beth and Mitchell Stevenson's newly opened Circle S Guest Ranch and Country Inn is situated on a 1,400 acre working cattle ranch in the Jefferson County hills. The 10,000 square foot guest house features 12 beautifully furnished bedrooms of various themes, 16 bathrooms, a silo-turned-spa/hot tub, and plenty of room for relaxation. Guests have come from as far away as Canada and Australia to enjoy the scenic getaway.

The ranch has been in Mary Beth's family for 5 generations, but could be lost or forever changed if a cross-country highway passes through the hills of Jefferson County.

    Bob Timmons’ Rim Rock Track

Bob Timmons’ Rim Rock Track is located on 96 beautifully wooded acres west of Wellman Road. The 6.2 mile men’s cross country track and 3.1 mile women’s track will be the site for the NCAA Cross Country track met on November 23, 1998. For the first time in the history of the NCAA Cross Country, Division I and Division II participated simultaneously. There were two women’s and two men’s races.

Two-hundred and fifty-five runners participated in each event. In preserving the natural terrain and flora of Kansas while creating a nationally-ranked track, Bob has created a unique setting for this year’s races. One of the possible highway routes passes directly through Rim Rock Track.
